Winer was on the editorial staff of the Hawk magazine during his service in Vietnam from 1969 through 1970. All materials date from 1969 through 1970.

Approximately half a linear foot of textual records documenting Clyde Romero's experience in the US Army's Warrant Officer flight training school. It includes the complete syllabus for the program, recruitement pamphlets, operational procedure guides, pilot's checklists, flight manuals, and a US Forces in Vietnam handbook. Also contains one museum object donated to the archive by Clyde Romero. The artifact is Romero's party suit containing the following patches: RF-4C, Voodoo one-to-wonder, 186th TAC Recon Group, Tatical Air Command, city of New York Police Department, Port Authority, Police New York New Jersey, 153rd TRS, and a red and white patch with a green helicopter holding a lightning rod.

Moore, USA (Ret.) concerning the recommendation for the posthumous award of the Congressional Medal of Honor to Staff Sergeant Harold G. Bennett and the award of the Silver Star and Bronze Star to Specialist Four Charles Craft for their exploits at the Battle of Binh Gia in December 1964 and their subsequent conduct as POWs following the battle. Bennett was executed by the Viet Cong in 1965, while Crafts was released in 1967.

Approximately 2.5 linear feet of moving images, audio material, documents, and a book collected by Major General James C. Smith. The audio recordings include music performances from the 1st Cavalry Division band, lectures on leadership given by Lieutenant General Zais, press briefings, and other programs. The videos include commercial films about the Vietnam War and home movies on Super 8mm and 16mm film. The home videos include footage from all three of Smith's tours of duty in Vietnam and date from 1966 through 1970. The footage includes change of command and awards ceremonies, footage of bases and landing zones (LZs), and the unit activities of the 1st Cavalry Division and the 101st Airborne Division. Of interest is one film showing footage of firebase Brick, Arsenal, Birmingham, Bastogne, and Ripcord from June 1970. Included with the film is a typed analysis of each firebase's defenses with suggestions on how to improve security. The documents and books talk about helicopter unit operations. The materials in this collection date from 1962 through 2000.

The documents include the combined unit history of the 350th Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron and 100th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing from July 1966 through June 1968. The unit history also includes supporting documents for the above units to include message traffic, performance reports, etc. These units were operating the Ryan Model 147 reconnaissance drone. Also included in the collection is a list of documents about Killed in Action (KIA), body not recovered members of the Air Rescue & Recovery Squadron in Vietnam. These documents include the name of the deceased, their rank, date of lost, birth date, unit of assignment, and details of their loss/last sighting.

The materials include several issues of Hawk magazine (published by the 1st Aviation Brigade) from 1969 through 1970, two issues of the USARV Aviation Pamphlets, and a photocopy of The Reporter news magazine from May 8, 1965. The collection also contains a quarter of a linear foot of textual records documenting the activities of the 155th Assault Helicopter Company (155th AHC) during the unit's service in Vietnam from 1965 to 1970. The documents include a commendation citation for the Distinguished Flying Cross, a 155th Assault Helicopter Company roster, and unit histories for 1965-1966 for the 155th Aviation Company, and from 1967-1970 for the 155th Assault Helicopter Company. The collection also includes the 1969 annual supplement to the history of the 10th Aviation Battalion (Combat) and unit newspapers Vagabond Voice (10th Combat Aviation Battalion) and Poolside Parable (155th AHC).

The collection also contains numerous copies of the Hawk magazine for the 1st Aviation Brigade and one copy of the 2017 VHPA calendar title We Were Soldiers Once.... And Young!

The collection consists of twenty audio reel-to-reel tapes created by Scott Clark from July 1966 to August 1967. They document his service as a captain with the U.S. Army, 2nd Battalion, 20th Aerial Rocket Artillery (2/20th ARA) as a combat pilot and section leader for UH-1 Hueys mounted with 48 folding-fin rockets. Clark mounted a tape recorder in the cockpit to record all radios and crew voices. The collection includes cockpit recordings during combat and audio letters sent between Clark and his family.

Approximately two and a half linear feet of artifacts from Steve Sullivan's tour in Vietnam from 1967-1968 where he flew UH1-C gunships with the 57th Assault Helicopter Company in Kom Tum. The collection contains a flight suit, fatigue pants, four patches, military issue towel, compass case, sunglasses, decorated helicopter flight helmet and carrying bag, an MB-4A Computer Air Navigation tool and plasticized DOD evasion chart of Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. The collection also contains a US Army pack sack, black hammock, black shirt, and canteen with a bullet hole, which were taken from North Vietnamese soldiers who attacked the base while Sullivan was there.

Approximately 9 linear feet of documents, photographs, newsletters, newspapers, serials, museum objects, and microfiche donated to the archive by Mike Law and other members of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association (VHPA). The collection contains two different series of materials. First is official VHPA business papers, including correspondence, executive council meeting minutes, membership reports, and reunion planning materials. The second series of materials is incoming correspondence from individual members. This correspondence contains personal narratives about individual members' service in Vietnam, and in many cases includes copies of historical documents from each member’s own unit and/or their research such as unit histories, rosters, flight school materials, newspaper clippings, artifacts, photographs, calling cards, DOD certificates of vaccination, helicopter flight test guides, synthetic flight training system information/operation guides, instrument procedure guides, helicopter regulation questions, selective service notices of classification, military orders, certificates, and firsthand accounts. The materials are dated 1954-2016.



The collection also includes training materials donated to the archive by William J. Fitzgerald. The training materials are booklets from the United States Army Primary Helicopter School at Fort Wolters, Texas.
