Approximately three linear feet of materials documenting Jack Johnson's service in Vietnam with the UTT (Utility Tactical Transport) Helicopter Company/68th Aviation Company and the188th Assault Helicopter Company. The materials include moving images; VHS tapes; CDs; DVDs; books; memos/correspondence (e.g. attempt to obtain awards including Medal of Honor for Jack Johnson; Johnson’s induction into the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame); letters of commendation; photographs and images; unit histories and lineage (e.g. 118th Aviation Company); certificates; base outlines (e.g. Camp Rainier, LZ Sally); articles/clippings; rosters; casualty lists; flyers/pamphlets; award nominations/recommendations/citations, including narratives; reports; flight records; service records; daily staff journals; Army Board for Correction of Military Records proceedings; Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame induction ceremony booklet; Johnson's induction nomination materials; electronic media; The Spider People: A Book About the 188th Helicopter Company Black Widows by Dick "Cherry Boy" Detra (signed by author); scrapbooks; medical records; military orders; maps; after action reports; diagrams; and ephemera. Approximately 23.5 linear feet of documents, moving images, photographs, slides, maps, books, electronic media, audio recordings, periodicals, and artifacts documenting Dick Detra's Vietnam War service, as well as the history of the Black Widows (188th Assault Helicopter Company) and Spiders (269th Combat Aviation Battalion) during the Vietnam War. A small proportion of the collection documents the activities of these units during the post 9/11 period.

Items of note in the collection include aerial photographs and maps of Camp Rainier (base camp for the 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry), also known as Dau Tieng Base Camp, where Dick Detra was stationed during 1967-1968; personal recollections and histories of the 188th Assault Helicopter Company covering the period 1966-1968 written by Dick Detra and 188th AHC commander Lieutenant Colonel Jack O. Johnson; reports; and deceased personnel files for both the 188th AHC and 269th CAB. The collection contains numerous photographs of the units operating at various bases from 1968 to 1970. Artifacts of note include battle streamers and various patches from the units over time, including some from the post 9/11 period. The collection covers the period 1966 to 2011, with the coverage being predominately 1966-1970.
