(USA) Herbert P. Koenig, originally from Chicago, Illinois served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1973. He went to South Vietnam in September 1970 and served as a helicopter pilot (later an Aircraft Commander) with the 60th Assault Helicopter Company, 1st Aviation Brigade. Herbert was stationed at Ninh Hoa in II Corps and flew over 800 hours in country in the UH-1H, either on supply or combat assault missions. His tour ended in August 1972. Herbert also served in the Illinois National Guard from July 1975 until October 1979 and in the U.S. Army Reserve from May 1980 until August 1981.
