General Note / OCR

On March 23, 1984, a dozen writers shared a stage at the West Side YMCA. Ten of them are veterans of the Vietnam War, and all have been published. John Del Vecchio (The 13th Valley, Bantam), Robert Olen Butler (Alleys of Eden, Knopf), W.D.Erhardt (collections of poetry and participant in PBS series, Vietnam: A TV History), Larry Heinemann (Close Quarters, Viking), and John Clark Pratt (The Laotian Fragments, Penguin) all appear in this issue, discussing the war and how it relates to fiction. Michael Stephens, moderator, has published novels, plays and poems. He teaches at Fordham University and Columbia University. The second half of this reading and discussion appears on American Arts Project, Volume 2.
The American Arts Project is the first 'magasett' a monthly audio/cassette magazine. We are committed to bringing original readings, interviews and performances to the public. The cassette medium has allowed for a new form to be created.
