General Note / OCR

In 1964 I worked with Vietnamese every day and liked the people I met. They were hard working with a zest for life. They seemed to accept personal losses with resignation and continued on with their lives with characteristic good humor. In 1968 I worked almost exclusively with Americans. It seemed strange to be in a country for a year and have little contact with the people I was there to protect. The Vietnam conflict took a great toll on me and my family. There were two stressful years of being concerned for life and limb and dealing with the suggestion by some anti-war protesters that what I was doing was immoral.
