General Note / OCR

How the war ended and how I perceived the American public's attitude towards returning soldiers left me with a feeling of failure, rejection, guilt, and then rage that there was no appreciation for what I, my friends and family went through. And now, a sadness that the nation's Welcome Home Celebration came too late to make a difference for most of us. I feel like a reformed alcoholic in recovery for the rest of my life. I did not ask for help until just these last couple of years. Since then I have received wonderful support from many sources including our own Kauai Vet Center. I thank all of them for their Aloha.
