In this interview, Brig. Gen. Stan Cherrie (U.S. Army, retired) discusses his two tours of duty in Vietnam. Cherrie served as a helicopter gunship pilot in his first tour, 1967-1968, with 191st Assault Helicopter Company. Cherrie returned for a second tour of duty in 1971, serving as a troop commander with the 17th Armored Cavalry, 23rd (Americal) Division. Cherrie was severely wounded in action in his second tour, but remained in the U.S. Army before retiring as a Brigadier General in 1998.
