General Note / OCR
Produced by the Air Force during the buildup in Southeast Asia, the official title of this documentary is 'There Is A Way.' This is a great documentary that puts you there and gives you a feel for this part of the Vietnam War. Operating out of Korat Air Base in Thailand, U.S. pilots flew F-105s on extremely dangerous combat missions over North Vietnam from 1966 through 1968. The video features colorful interviews with pilots who completed 100 missions, as wells as with the ground crews and flight controllers who guided the pilots on their missions. You'll see an actual combat mission over North Vietnam, during which the pilots take heavy flak before dropping their bombs. You'll witness the relief both pilots and ground crews share on the runway when the mission is over. And the celebrations when a pilot comes rolling in after 100 missions. The documentary also contains a good deal of footage of Korat Air Base, including briefings and the intense preparations of the aircraft for its next bombing mission. There are several great scenes of off-duty pilots relaxing in bars, swapping stories and enjoying each other's company.
