Approximately seven and a half linear feet of books, photographs, slides, museum objects, film, audio, periodicals, microfilm, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, journals, studies, oral history transcripts, and official military materials document a broad range of topics related to Operation Ranch Hand, the Ranch Hand Association and issues related to herbicidal usage during the Vietnam Conflict. Topics include support for and against the use of herbicides, studies conducted on the use of herbicides, lawsuits against its use, Veterans Administration treatment of Vietnam Veterans, their objections with the United States government and chemical and germ warfare.

Materials of interest in this collection are the DAAR Reports, or Daily Air Activity Reports for Operation Ranchhand. These daily reports show the map coordinates of spray missions, the type of agent used, number of gallons sprayed, number of hits the spray aircraft sustained during the mission and grid coordinates of the enemy fire, flying conditions experienced during the mission, and if the mission was aborted the reason(s) why. The units mentioned in the report are the: 309th Air Command Squadron, 315th Air Commando Group, 12th Airborne Command and Control Squadron, and the 12th Special Operations Squadron. Also included with the reports are handwritten notes.

Materials in this collection date from 1960 to the present and are primarily organized in their original order.

Approximately three linear feet of documents and photographs from Rufus C. Phillips III's service in Southeast Asia in the 1950s and 1960s first with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as part of Edward Lansdale's operation, and later with the United States Agency for International Development's (USAID) U.S. Operations Mission (USOM), Office of Rural Affairs. The documents date from 1952 through 1967, with the bulk being from 1962 through 1967, and include information on South Vietnamese provinces; the structure of the South Vietnamese government; and papers on pacification, rural development, and the Viet Cong. Photographs date from mid-1950s to early 1960s.

Jones service with the 388th Tactical Wing in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Also included in the donation are records that identified Jones' remains when they were returned to the United States in 1985. Jones was shot down over North Vietnam on 5 January 1968 and was then listed MIA and later declared dead in 1976.

Book 'Journey Back From Vietnam: One Soldier's Long Road Home From War' written by Wayne Purinton. The book is about Purinton's service in Vietnam and his recovery efforts from PTSD and humanitarian efforts educating children in Vietnam.

Also contains approximately .5 linear foot of correspondence from Wayne Purinton to his family at home. The majority of the letters are addressed to his parents; however, some are to his brothers, Chuck, Ron and Eddie. Contained in the letters are a homemade Mother's day card Purinton sent, as well as a description of the start of Operation Pershing. Wayne Purinton was in Vietnam with C Company, 5th Battalion, 7th Cavalry from April 1967 to March, 1968.

Seven maps of Northern Laos and I Corps, loose pages filled with notes and magic words used by Terry Presgrove in his duties as a forward observer from August 1968 to July 1969. There is also a handmade notebook and some loose pages containing Vietnamese writing, a typed page listing the operations that Presgrove participated in from November 1968 to July 1969 and a sheet from the 3rd Medical Battalion detailing the treatment given to Presgrove when he was wounded on February 23, 1969.

Less than a quarter of a linear foot of manuscript material comprising a tribute book for USAF (United States Air Force) pilot Colonel Wayne Wolfkeil put together by Joe Parnar and Robert Dumont. The volume contains the story and images of Col. Wolfkeil, his crash in Laos, and the Bright Light SAR (Search and Rescue) operations undertaken by the SOG (Special Operations Group) personnel, including the one led by Sfc. George (Wilson) Hunt of Spike Team Maine that reached the crash site two weeks later. Also included are copies of the documents Mrs. Anne Wolfkeil received from the military regarding the search for her husband and his official MIA/KIA status; his biographical entry from the P.O.W. Network website, a letter his son David wrote about his father to a reporter for the Northwest Florida Daily News in 2010, and an article on Col. Wolfkeil by Gordie Jones appearing in Lancaster (PA) Online in 2013. Also included in the collection is a published book written by Jerry Krizan and Robert Dumont entitled 'Bac Si: A Green Beret Medic's War in Vietnam. The book is the story of Sergeant Jerry Krizan, a medic assigned to Special Forces Camp A-331 in the III Corps tactical zone, 10 miles from the Cambodian border.

The collection consists of letters, memos, administrative documents, reports, charts, printed material, handwritten notes, photographs, newspapers, ephemera, and a map of southern Vietnam that document John Proe's service as a US Army Medical Advisor in Vietnam, US military medical support, Vietnamese public health and Vietnamese culture, circa 1967-1968. The collection also includes a personal health care kit manufactured in China and carried by Viet Cong and North Vietnamese troops during the Vietnam War. It was given to Dr. Proe after the Tet Offensive of 1968.
