A U.S. Navy Minesweeping Boat (MSB) makes one of its daily sweeps down the Long Tau river to clear mines planted by the Viet Cong under cover of darkness. The MSB's patrol the river from 4 a.m. until sundown to keep the channel open for shipping enroute to the port of Saigon.

The U.S. Navy minesweeping boat (MSC-17) sweeps the Long Tao River to ensure that no Viet Cong mines endanger ships bound for the Port of Saigon. The boat is a Unit of Detachment Alpha of Mine Squadron Eleven homebased at Long Beach, California. A Navy minesweeper, part of Task Force 116, sweeps the Long Tao River in the Rung Sat Special Zone.

Two films. First film was made during World War II, and focuses on tactical employment of minesweepers. It is narrated. Very technical with graphs and charts; some combat footage. Second film: All scenes were shot from a U.S. Navy minesweeper (MSB) underway on the Long Tau River. Includes excellent details of the minesweeper and the equipment utilized during its operation, as well as weapons carried on board. The following is a list of the scenes in the Vietnam-era film, which appears second on the video. Looking toward stern on minesweeper underway. Captain Clarence 'Jerry' Wages (U.S. Navy, retired) discusses his experiences in Vietnam. Wages served aboard numerous minesweepers and destroyers in his Navy career, and later commanded riverine operations in the Rung Sat Special Zone in South Vietnam. Captain Wages passed away before the completion of the interview.

The collection consists of approximately three linear feet of materials including theses, books, photographs, artifacts, articles, Chieu Hoi leaflets, oral history interviews, awards and citations, naval administrative reports, information from the Seawolves' Agent Orange Relief Effort (SAORE), and files concerning the USS Calcaterra and USS Exultant that document Captain Clarence Jerry Wages' 34 years of service in the United States Navy from 1947-1981 (including two years of service in Vietnam) and his subsequent volunteer work with the SAORE after retiring from the Navy.
