During the Vietnam War, the US Army's Combined Document Exploitation Center (CDEC) received thousands of pages of captured material containing valuable intelligence. Reports were written for each item, and at the end of each day, the items were filmed and the reports were encoded using an 8-bit coding system.
The Vietnam Center and Archive has worked with IImage Retrieval, Inc. to decode and translate these reports, and to make available all of the captured documents. Researchers can utilize this search page to search for specific data (using either the original coding or the translated data) by specific fields, or using a general keyword search.
See the Help Page for a listing of all of the possible fields used by CDEC.
