Location: Fort Shafter, Hawaii A continuation of the interview with Mrs. Donna Moore, Director of the Craft Shop Mrs. Moore continues her discussion of the popularity of pottery. She also states that they hire nice young ladies to entice the military men to their programs. She discusses the different pottery classes offered and a description of the glazing and mold pouring processes. She then mentioned the graphic arts printmaking class. Most of the supplies for classes are provided, but basic supplies are not. The shop averages between one hundred and 120 people nightly, again increasing during the Christmas season. Mrs. Moore mentions the candle-making, jewelry, leatherwork, garment making classes and describes them briefly. Mrs. Moore mentions the children's programs that the craft shop offers, and a summer program that includes tours to local places of interest. She says the craft shop tried to keep the military population informed of local art activities and discusses future ideas to incorporate into the craft shop. Mrs. Moore says the primary goal of the shop is to provide a place of recreation and a place for people to enjoy themselves and make something for which they can be proud.
