General Note: Operation Cedar Falls mission was to clear Viet Cong from the Iron Triangle near Saigon, RVN. The mission of C Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Mechanized Infantry, 2nd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division was to sweep through the Filhol Plantation in search of fleeing Viet Cong units. During a sweep, some Viet Cong were spotted and fled. Soldiers of the company dismounted their M113 Armored Personnel Carriers and pursued. During the pursuit, a soldier tripped a booby trap. Three men were wounded, one seriously. SP4 Ronald P. Jenkins, medic, attended the wounded and then the three were evacuated.
