- VHS Documentary of the 188th Assault Helicopter Company Black Widows and Spiders. Produced by 2nd Platoon/Spiders door gunner Dick Detra and Black Widow 6, LTC Jack O. Johnson, who also narrates the film. The Black Widow Theme Song and Chopper Gunner were sung at LZ Sally in June 1968 by 1st Platoon door gunner John Nordenstrom. The 188th served in Vietnam from late April 1967 to July 1, 1968. Stationed for eight months at Dau Tieng/Camp Rainier in the Western III Corps' Michelin Rubber Plantation forty miles northwest of Saigon, and four months at LZ Sally in the Northern I Corps area of operations seven miles north of Hue. The Black Widows flew missions in all four corps areas of operation and across the fence into Cambodia and Laos in support of the 5th Special Forces, CCN and SOG. During combat operations in Vietnam, the 'Spider People' of the 188th had a casualty rate of thirty percent.
