CC 67943 Vietnam CORDS ACTIVITIES Established in 1967, Civil Operations and Rural Development Support (CORDS) is an amalgamation of several US Government agencies. Though basically made up of Army personnel, it involves members of the US Agency for International Development, other branches of the Armed Forces, as well as the Department of State; the US Information Agency; The Department of Agriculture; and the US Public Health Service. Villagers work on their rice fields with the help of a new gasoline powered rotor tiller provided by CORDS. These water wheels at Dien Phu are capable of irrigating 160 acres of rice land. These projects are totally handled and financed by groups of local farmers. 26-29 May 1970 Photo by SP4 Joel M. Shanus USA Sp Photo Det, Pac Unclassified by USAPA, 16 July 1970
