General Note
Maj. Larry Bender (USMC, ret.) discusses his three tours in Vietnam. Bender served in-country with the 3/9 Marines and landed at DaNang as part of the first USMC forces to arrive in Vietnam in March 1965. During his second tour Bender served near Hue during the Tet Offensive of 1968, as well as other areas of I Corps before being severely wounded and evacuated for medical treatment. Bender returned to Vietnam in 1970, serving as an advisor to the 5th Vietnamese Marines and taking part in the Cambodian Incursion in the spring of 1970.
