Appendix

Vietnam, a multinational country, is populated by 60 ethnic groups; the present territory of the D.R.V is inhabited by more than 30 national minorities living in mountainous regions of great strategic importance and destined for a bright economic future.

How has the D.R.V. been able to realize unity in diversity with a view to national liberation, socialist construction and resistance against imperialist aggression? The present issue of Vietnamese studies is devoted to the nationality policy of the D.R.V. and to the achievements obtained by the minority peoples in all fields: political, economic, social and cultural.
