UNLOADING MORTAR ROUNDS KHAM DUC, SOUTH VIETNAM.

Americal Division, Army Republic Vietnam and Artillery units returned to Kham Duc in the middle of July 1970, reclaiming the base and 5000-6000 foot airstrip that had been completely evacuated under heavy NVA assaults with large number of killed and wounded and loss of two C-130 planes and several helicopters. Kham Duc, located about 10 miles from the Laotian border, had been a Special Forces base used to monitor the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos.
