- Chief Advisor for the Vietnam Project Ralph Smuckler corresponds with Secretary of State at the Presidency Nguyen Dinh Thuan from August to September, 1959. They discuss the development of the NIA, faculty visits to Vietnam, arrangements for new NIA students, and American personnel in Vietnam. Many of the letters are accompanied by Vietnamese and French translations.
