- A photograph is taken by Vietnamese student Phu Phan during President Ngo Dinh Diem's Vietnam Day Convocation on May 15, 1957. An accompanying letter reads, "Dear Mr. Taggart, Enclosed is a snapshot I took showing you with a friend... Please keep it with my compliments - Also, on behalf of the group, I'd like to thank you for making it possible for us to take part in all the events during the President's visit. We are certainly appreciative of your thoughtful and understanding help - Sincerely, Phu N. Phan"
