George Ball, Under Secretary of State, speaks in a publication based on an address made before the Economic Club of Detroit on April 30, 1962. Ball discusses Vietnam's struggle to defend their freedom and gain independence, and the role of the United States in assisting Vietnam. Ball also talks about Laos' role in assisting Vietnam, and South Vietnam's counterinsurgency movement to combat Communism.
