General Note
An image from Wesley Fishel's photograph collection of seven young people buying food from an elderly vendor at a table-top market in An Thanh. The label on the photograph reads, "Early last year An Thanh was so thoroughly dominated by the communists it was called 'Viet Cong Market.' The Saigon government's pacification campaign turned it into a community with reviving trade and growing prosperity. Here an An Thanh youth buys a morning snack in the village's new market place. (TCB-097 Photo One, July 1971.)"
