General Note
These are pictures following the Cam Ranh ammo dump that began to explode and burn at 0430 one morning in August, 1971. The explosions were so powerful that they blew all the 4-foot fluorescent light bulbs from their sockets at our 92nd AHC location in Dong Ba Thin (my only wound that drew blood!). The “freedom bird” in slide 159 [VAS084931] was on long, final approach to Cam Ranh when the last large explosion occurred. The pilot just turned the aircraft out to sea and disappeared!
