Program No. 455

From Vietnam (Reporter: Will Thompson) - We visit the 93rd Evacuation Hospital at Long Binh and talk to the Chief Ward Master, SFC Huey Brewers, about the operations.

From Japan (Reporter: MSG Revis Taylor) - PFC Bill Rutherford is a machine gunner with a reconnaissance platoon of the 101st Airborne Division. While recovering from wounds in an Army hospital, he discusses their missions.

From Vietnam (Reporter: Will Thompson) - Aboard the cargo ship Meredith Victory which is unloading ammunition at Cat Lhai we talk to a young military policeman about his duties of providing security for the ship.

From Korea (Reporter: William Verdier) - We talk to a pilot of the 2nd Infantry Division about flying conditions in Korea and recognition of the Demilitarized Zone which is "off limits" to all planes.

From Vietnam (Reporter: Will Thompson) - We visit the busy Saigon port where over 400,000 tons of cargo is unloaded monthly. The Sergeant Major of the 4th Transportation Company tells the story.

From Japan (Reporter: MSG Revis Taylor) - We talk to a combat medic of the 196th Light Brigade who gives us a picture of how they function during a fire-fight.

From Vietnam (Reporter: Will Thompson) - We talk to two door-gunners who man helicopters of the 9th Infantry Division. They discuss their missions and duties while in flight and on the ground.

From Okinawa (Reporter: William Verdier) - At the U.S. Army Education Center we meet a young Vietnamese instructor and learn that the Vietnamese language is not so difficult after all.


Program No. 457

From Vietnam (Reporter: Will Thompson) - The weapon in our arsenal which the Viet Cong fear the most is the scout dog. The scout dog can find the VC in jungles and swamps and lead the patrols to them. We are talking to a scout dog platoon sergeant of the 9th Infantry Division about his dogs.

From Japan (Reporter: MSG Revis Taylor) - SFC James Fraley is a much decorated combat medic who is now convalescing in an Army hospital. He tells us of some of his exploits in the war.

From Vietnam (Reporter: Will Thompson) - At the Saigon port in the heart of the city we learn the process by which the right product gets to the right customer once it is unloaded from the ship. The soldier in charge of pier clearance tells the story.

From Thailand (Reporter: Will Thompson) - An engineer of the 538th Engineer Battalion at Korat tells of mapping the existing roads in the northeastern section of that country for possible rebuilding.

From Vietnam (Reporter: Will Thompson) - At the 93rd Evacuation Hospital located at Long Binh we talk to the chief nurse about the staff and operations of the hospital.

From Japan (Reporter: MSG Revis Taylor) - A rifle platoon sergeant of the 25th Infantry Division explains the procedures in preparing and conducting a night mission in Vietnam.

From Vietnam - At Gate #2 of the Saigon port in downtown Saigon, we talk to the MP on duty about guarding the tons of cargo on the docks awaiting transferral to various military units.

From Korea - Two members of the Medical Section, U.S. Army Advisory Group-Korea discuss their regular visits to a remote island off Korea to give medical aid to the local residents.
