This is a chest protector that we wear while flying.
A young warrant officer who was shot down in the Song Re on 9 Aug took a hit right in the middle from a 12.7 or 50 caliber AA weapon.
Knocked hell out of him and the protector as you can see from the blood stains and large hole.
He's still alive though with wounds in the arms and shoulders mostly from the flying ceramic that the thing is made of.
Needless to say we have no problem telling our guys to wear them.
