General Note
America made extensive use of airpower in the Vietnam war. To stop the infiltration of men and material into the south, strikes were made against the north and its infrastructure. American ground forces came to depend on the aerial artillery provided by close air support. The use of so many sophisticated airplanes in so little space called for an incredible support effort and precise control. This is the story of that effort, the planes and the men who porvided America's decisive aerial punch.
