Biographical / Historical
David J. Glazener was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 3, 1940. He received his ROTC commission after graduating from college in May 1964. Glazener served in the Army Signal Corps for two years, including a two-year tour of duty in Vietnam from June 1965 to May 1966. He was assigned to the 518th Signal Company (Tropospheric Radio Relay) from August 1964-May 1965 as Platoon Leader and then as Officer in Charge (OIC) of the 56th Signal Detachment (MWTS); from June 1965-May 1966 he was with MACV/STRATCOM. He received the following medals: Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

After his tour of duty in Vietnam, Glazener was discharged with the rank of 1st Lieutenant on June 17, 1970. He served with the Army Reserves while attending graduate school at the Southwestern Baptist Seminary. After receiving his degree, he became a Minister of Education.
