Biographical / Historical
Paul L. Moulton was born on 15 August 1928 in Waltham, Massachusetts. On 5 October 1946 he enlisted with the United States Army, serving during the Korean War in 1951 and 1953, where he covered the truce talks, the signing of the Korean truce and Operation Little and Big Switch (exchange of prisoners). After Korea, he was the Chief Cameraman on training and informational films at locations throughout the world, including Berlin, Japan, Panama, and the Arctic and was deployed to Lebanon in 1958. Once the war began, Moulton served in Southeast Asia for two years, from February 1966 to May 1969, with the Department of the Army Special Photographic Detachment Pacific (6442). While there, Moulton was ranked as a Sergeant First Class (E-7), a Non-Commissioned officer in charge of photographic teams in Vietnam, Korea, Okinawa, Japan, and Thailand. Before he retired on 30 June 1970, he was awarded the Air Medal with V Device and the Meritous Service Medal. After his service, Moulton worked as a television news photographer for Washington News Bureau Storer Communication, where he covered the White House, State Department, U.S. Congress and other government agencies. In February 1991, he retired to Southeast North Carolina.
