Book titled 'Route 66 to Vietnam' by Michael Lund which is a fictional account of a Midwestern man's struggles that surface years later as a result of his service in Vietnam.
Biographical / Historical
Michael Lund was born in 1945 in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army and served a total of one year, nine months, and four days. During this time he was stationed at the Information Office at Fort Campbell, Kentucky from August 1969 through May 1970 and at the Headquarters of the United States and Army of the Republic of Vietnam at Long Binh for eight months and six days, from June 1970 through March 1971. Lund was ranked as a Specialist 4 and Specialist 5 during his service and worked as an Information Specialist. In 1971, Lund was discharged as a Specialist 5 and was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal. He then received his Ph.D. in English from Emory University in Atlanta in 1973 and joined the Vietnam Veterans of America Association.
