One DVD converted from 8 mm film shot by David C. Schneider while aboard the USS Mahopac from December 1964 to June 1967.
Biographical / Historical
David C. Schneider was born on 15 June 1945 in Yakima, Washington. In 1963, Schneider volunteered for the United States Navy, beginning his twenty-four year career in the military. From 1963 through 1975, Schneider was stationed in Southeast Asia, first with the USS Mahopac ATA-196 (1963-1967), then the USS Constellation CVA-64 (1967-1968), then at NAS Lemore (1968-1970), then with the USS Kitty Hawk CVA-63 (1970-1974), then at NAS Memphis (1974-1977), then with the USS Constellation again (1977-1979) and finally at NARU Memphis (1979-1987). He began his career ranked as an E-3 and by the time of his retirement in 1987, he was ranked as an E-7. For his service in Vietnam, Schneider received the Vietnam Service Medal/Ribbon and the Vietnam Campaign Medal/Ribbon. After his retirement from the United States Navy active duty, Schneider taught school for the United States Navy at NAS Memphis.
