Biographical / Historical
L. M. Kildow was born 4 September 1928 in Black Rock Arkansas. In 1945, he volunteered for the United States Navy, beginning his thirty-one year service with the military, one year of which was served in Southeast Asia. From September 1968 through September 1969, Kildow served with Unit 514 River Division, headquartered at Binh Thuy, as a Combat Patrol Officer Patrol Boat Riverine, ranked as a Chief Boatswain's Mate (BMC), E-7. After his service in Vietnam, Kildow was stationed in Bermuda as a Special Service Director and served his recruiting duty in St. Louis, Missouri as a Chief Master at Arms. In 1976, Kildow retired from the Navy ranked as a Senior Chief Boatswain's Mate (BMCS). For his service, Kildow received the following medals and citations: Bronze Star with Valor, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat River Patrol Officer Badge, Cross of Gallantry with Oak Leaf, Navy Commendation with Valor, Navy Unit Citation, Commendation SEAL Team Two, Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Citation, Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star and the Vietnam Presidential Commendation Medal. After his retirement from the Navy, Kildow became self-employed.
