Scope and Contents
U.S. Army uniform jacket, military payment certificates, photographs, slides, correspondence and various other military documents, including military orders, promotions, a diary, and certificates, document Keith Black's service in the United States Army and one year tour of duty stationed in Laos.
Biographical / Historical
Keith Black was born in 1946 in Clovis, New Mexico. In 1969, Black volunteered for the United States Army and served a total of three years, one of which was served in Southeast Asia. Based out of Pleiku, Black was assigned to the ASA (Army Security Agency) 330th RRFS (Radio Research Field Station) Detachment 8 from 10 February 1971 through 10 February 1972. He was ranked as an E-4 and later promoted to an E-5, serving as a Tech Support Installer for Explorer II, an intelligence collection method. He was involved in Project Explorer and received the Bronze Star and other citations for his service. In 1972, Black was discharged as an E-5 and then worked in data processing after his service.
