Scope and Contents
CD-ROM containing Edward Beck's memoirs, particularly detailing his 26 year career in the U.S.M.C. from 1942-1968. Also included in the collection is a printed cover sheet to the CD-ROM, and an excerpt from Joe D. Beck', Edward Beck's son, memoirs. Both father and son served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam, 1966-1967.
Biographical / Historical
Master Gunnery Sergeant Ed Beck, USMC (Retired) was born on 26 November 1924. In May of 1942, immediately after graduation from Floydada (Texas) High School he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. Beck served in the Pacific from 1943-1945. In 1966 Gunnery Sergeant Beck volunteered for duty in Vietnam, where he was assigned to the Third Marine Amphibious Force. Returning from Vietnam in April of 1967, he retired the next month.
