Scope and Contents
This collection consists of an oral history interview conducted as part of the VNCA Oral History Project and a flight suit orignally owned by Colonel Floyd Peede.
Biographical / Historical
John Sweet, born in Marblehead, Massachusetts in 1947, volunteered for the United States Air Force in 1966 and served until 1973. He served six years and ten months in the USAF and 13 months in Southeast Asia at the Comm Sp Tactical Units Operation Center in Nakhon Phanom and held the ranks of SGT. and SSGT. While in Southeast Asia, SSGT. John Sweet was involved in intelligence on troop movements and interdiction along the North Vietnamese trails in Laos and was awarded the Campaign Ribbon, Service Ribbon with four stars, Outstanding Unit Award with 2 Vs for Valor, and a Vietnamese Cross with Palm.
