Biographical / Historical
In February 1967 Lieutenant Jerry L. Echols attended Officer Candidate School in Yorktown, Virginia. In January of 1969 he attended two weeks of SERE training (Survival Evasion Resistance Escape) in Alameda, California, in preparation for Viet Nam. Later in 1967 he landed at Tan Son Nhut in Saigon, and was assigned to Cat Lo as an XO of Point Banks. He was later transferred to Le Van Nga, a Coast Guard vessel turned over to the Vietnamese Navy.
