Photographs and newspaper articles document Peter Ruplenas' service with the Department of the Army Special Photographic Office (DASPO) Pacific Detachment, 1966-1968.
Biographical / Historical
Ruplenas was born in 1918 and joined the United States Army in 1941. He was trained as a photographer. Ruplenas developed aerial photographs of German targets in World War 2. After the war, Ruplenas returned to civilian life later to reenlist and be transported to Japan. After the Korean War started he landed at Inchon and followed the Americans north the Yalu River. Ruplenas was assigned to DASPO from 1966-1968 and stationed in Hawaii. He retired from the army in 1970.
