Scope and Contents
Less than one linear foot of eight photographs, three Dong notes, and a South Vietnamese flag detail Gary Wever's service during the Vietnam War.
Biographical / Historical
Gary Wever was born on 21 September 1948 in Vinita, Oklahoma. He volunteered for the United States Air Force in July 1967 beginning over 20 years of military service. During his service he served with the 377 Supply Squadron and the 535 Tactical Air Lift Squadron as a Base Supply Specialist. During his service in Vietnam Wever was stationed at Tan Son Nhut Air Base in Saigon and Vung Tau Army Airfield. Throughout his service in Vietnam Wever held the ranks of Airman 1st Class, Sergeant, and Staff Sergeant. For his service in Vietnam Wever was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal. Wever retired from the military in 1987 and now works for the United States Postal Service. He is active in the C-7A Caribou Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans.
