Less than one linear foot of letters written from Joan C. Griffin to her husband, Carroll R. Griffin during his service in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Biographical / Historical

Carroll R. Griffin, Jr. was born 21 January 1928. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1950 as a regular officer. Griffin served six months in Korea during the Korean War with the 7th Tactical Fighter Squadron. He flew over 100 missions during the Korean War. Griffin served one year in Southeast Asia as the Assistant Base Commander for Bien Thuy Air Force Base from 1969 to 1970. Carroll Griffin retired from the United States Air Force in 1973 with a rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Griffin died in a light plane accident in Costa Rica, Central America on 10 July 2003.
