Less than one linear foot composed of Lest We Should Forget, a history of the 8th Battalion, 4th Field Artillery from 1967 to 1971.Biographical / Historical
Charles G. White was born in 1941 in Slaton, Texas. In 1966, White volunteered for the United States Army, beginning a total of two years and nine months of service. In 1968, White was sent to I Corps in the Republic of Vietnam with the 8th Battalion, 4th Artillery. There he served as a Battery Fire Direction Officer and Battalion Staff Officer and was promoted from 2nd Lieutenant to 1st Lieutenant. During his service, his battalion was under operational control of the 1st and 3rd Marine Divisions (11th & 12th Marines) and was involved in Tet 1968 and the related activities in I Corp of that year.On 25 December 1968, White was discharged from active duty, having received the Army Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Navy Unit Commendation, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He then attended law school at Southern Methodist University, January 1969 - December 1970 and became a licensed attorney in Texas on 7 April 1971. In 1978, he received the Board in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is also a member of the 8th Battalion, 4th Field Artillery Association and is the creator of the association's website,
