Military manuals, photographs, slides, hand-written notebooks, rubber map, artillery fuse, correspondence, and other military adminstrative documents document Col. Jack Abrahams service in Vietnam as Commander of Special Forces Detachment A-233.

Biographical / Historical

Jack Abraham was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1930. He volunteered for the United States Army in 1952 beginning 26 ½ years of military service. For 9 ½ of those years Abraham served in Southeast Asia, including Laos and Thailand. Abraham served with the United States Special Forces as an Area Specialist Officer and also as the Commanding Officer of Special Forces Detachment A-233 in Buon Mi Ga and Buon Ea Yang. For his service in Vietnam Abraham was awarded the Bronze Star with ^D'V^D>' device, 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Silver Leaf and the Air Medal with 4th Oak Leaf Cluster. After his service in Southeast Asia Abraham served as Company Commander at Fort Gordon, Georgia, adviser to the Army for Project 404 in Laos, Headquarters Commandant at Fort Meade, Maryland, Deputy Chief of Staff for Training at the United States Army Intelligence Command and adviser to the Saudi Arabian National Guard. Abraham retired from the military in 1981 with the rank of Colonel and is active in the Special Operations Association and the Special Forces Association.
