Scope and Contents
Less than one linear foot of a two volume Vietnamese language book written by Minh Duc Tran regarding the turbulence in Vietnam from 1945-1975.
Biographical / Historical
Minh Duc Tran was born 5 August 1932, is a former Colonel in the South Vietnamese Army and holds a M.A. in English Literature from the University of Saigon. When Saigon fell to the Communists, Tran fought his last battle as the Commandant of the Infantry School. Under his command the cadets repelled the North Vietnamese Army attack against our compound, destroying two Russian-made T54 tanks. After 30 April 1975, Tran was imprisoned in North Vietnam for 13 years. In 1988 he was released but kept under house arrest in Saigon for two years. In April of 1990 he was finally reunited with his family that had resettled in the United States.
