Scope and Contents
Approximately one linear foot of draft manuscripts and material used by Rene Defourneaux to write his book The Winking Fox , which documents Defourneaux's service during World War II with the Office of Strategic Service (OSS) where he trained members of the French Resistance behind German lines; and documents for the Deer Mission (July-September 1945) during the Japanese occupation when he parachuted with a U.S.-led team into Indochina/Vietnam to meet with Ho Chi Minh and Vo Nguyen Giap about Allied assisance to remove the Japanese. There is also a DVD copy from the BBC's Timewatch series titled 'Uncle Ho and Uncle Sam' that documents Ho Chi Minh's cooperation with the United States' Office of Strategic Services against the Japanese during World War II.
