Less than one linear foot of photographs, training manuals, and DOD evasion charts document Thomas B. Woods service in Vietnam from December 1967-December 1968. The materials date from the war era.

Biographical / Historical

Thomas B. Wood was born in 1942 in Pinehurst, North Carolina. In 1965 he was drafted into the United States Army and began a career of over twenty years in the service. Approximately one of these years (December 1967 - December 1968) was spent in Southeast Asia with B Company, Aviation Battalion, 101st Airborne Division, stationed at Bien Hoa and Camp Eagle in I Corps, Republic of Vietnam. Wood served as a Huey pilot, an Aircraft Commander (AC), and as a Fire Team Leader during this time and was promoted from a Warrant Officer First Class (WO-1) to a Chief Warrant Officer Second Class (CW2). After his service in Southeast Asia, Wood continued his career in the US Army, serving combat tours in Grenada and Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, with some overseas assignments in West Germany and South Korea. In 1991 Wood retired from the Army ranked as a Chief Warrant Officer Fourth Class (CW4). He is a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots' Association (VHPA).
