Scope and Contents
One linear foot of material containg Air America site books, USAID phone books, personnel rosters, photo books from the Vientiane floods, 286 slides, 24 negatives, and the remains of a B-40 RPG round, document MacAlan Thompson's service in Southeast Asia with Air America. The bulk of the materials date from 1963-1974. MacAlan also donated six rifles: French Flintlocks, Montagnard Flintlock Rifles and a German Carbine.Biographical / Historical
MacAlan Thompson graduated from Oregon State University in June of 1963. He then served from February,1964 to February, 1965 as a Lieutenant in the 528th Engineering Detachment at Camp Friendship, Korat. He was then stationed at Dugway Proving Grounds from February 1965 to November 1965. He then served from September, 1966 to June, 1968 in Laos. MacAlan Thompson began his service with USAID in August 1968 and served there until his retirement in January 1992. Thompson died in 2018 at the age of 77.- 24
