From the author's note: The forty-four year professional career of Thomas J. Barnes included: military service in Korea and Japan; Foreign Service postings in Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Morocco; and assignments with the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Refugees in Somalia and Switzerland; as well as with a non-governmental Geneva-based international organiazation. Barnes is the author of Tay Son: Rebellion in 18th Century Vietnam; Anecdotes of a Vagabond: the Foreign Service, the UN, and a Volag; and Coping with Lust and the Colonel: Wartime Korea from Sokchang-ni.- 8
