Scope and Contents

Over one linear foot of artifacts, a DD-214, Military Payment Certificates (MPCs), NVA propaganda fliers, and three photographs document Tim Vail's tour of duty with the Americal Division, C Company, 1st Battalion, 46th Regiment, 198th Light Infantry Brigade, 1969. That materials date from the war era and are in good condition.

Biographical / Historical

Tim Vail was born in Pennsylvania in 1942, and was inducted into the Army on 10 July 1968. Following basic training, Vail departed for Vietnam where he served from January 19, 1969, until July 9, 1969. On July 9, 1970, Vail was released from active duty. While in the service Vail received the following awards or citations: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Sharpshooter Badge-Rifle.
