Biographical / Historical
Bertram Leach was born in Detroit Lakes MN. on 18 November 1929. He volunteered for the U.S. Army in 1952. Mr. Leach served with the 93rd Transportation Company from May 1962-April 1963, the 336th Assault Helicopter and 21st ARVN Infantry Division from February 1967-June 1967, the 13th Combat Aviation Battalion (Delta) HQ from June-July 1967. For the rest of his tour, July 1967-January 1968, he served as the Airfield Commander for Can Tho Airbase and Commanding Officer for the 356th Aviation Operating Detachment. While in Vietnam he served as a Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Operations Officer for the 93rd Transportation Company, a pilot as the Delta Battalion Liason Officer to 21st ARVN Division, and as S-4 (Staff Officer for Logistics) in the 13th CAB (Delta). Bertram Leach recieved a Bronze Star and eleven Air Medals for his actions in Vietnam. Mr. Leach retired form the United States Army in 1972 as a Lt. Colonel.
