Biographical / Historical
Donald Jackson was born in February 1947 in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He volunteered for the United States Army in 1965 and served until 1968. He also in the U.S Navy from 1974-1979, and then the U.S. Army Reserves from 1979-1996. Jackson retired in 1996. He had 29 years of total service, in which one and a half were spent in Soc Trang Airfield, South Vietnam as a crew chief, to UH-1D. His ranks during his Vietnam service were Private First Class, Specialist 4, and Specialist 5. Jackson served in the 121st Aviation Company in the Army, and while in the Navy he served in the VF-124 and the VF-1. He was int the operations Harvest Moon and also the Tet Offensive in 1968 during his war service.
