Jacob L. Schloss was born on May 19, 1936. He volunteered for the United States Air Force in 1955. He spent a total of six years in service throughout Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand. Schloss was assigned to the 6102 AB Wing from the years of 1956-58. He was also assigned to the Taipei American School and the Air America School from 1966-68 and 1968-70 respectively. While in Asia, Schloss held numerous positions including: Serviceman (1956-58), Teacher and Principal (1966-70). He was first stationed at Yokota AB from 1956-58. In 1966 he was transferred to Taipei and remained there until 1968. Finally, in 1968 he was transfered for a third time to Udorn where he remained until 1970. During his service in Southeast Asia Schloss hell the rank of Airman First Class, Vice Principal, Teacher, Principal, SA/BM-Udorn, and staff assistant to base manager. He was never involved in any major events, engagements, or campaigns in Vietnam or Southeast Asia. Second to that, he never received any awards for service in [Vietnam]. At the time of discharge, Schloss had obtained the rank of A/1c. After his military service in Vietnam, he chose to continue teaching. The following is a statement prepared by Jacob Leon Schloss: 'My association with Air America was through the school. I and my staff were connnected, but we were only there for bringing normality to bear. We taught the children and were plugged into an organization with a totally different mission. It was a very unique and rewarding experience!' As of late, Schloss currently holds a Ph.D.
