One manuscript, titled 'War Stories: A Sailor Remembers the Vietnam War', documents Robert J. Powers, Jr.'s service in the United States Navy, 1968-1970.
Biographical / Historical
Robert J. Powers, Jr., entered the U.S. Navy in 1968 as a Seaman, E-3, instead of Seaman Recruit, E-2, because he had 108 college credits. He had been drafted and was destined for the Army but enlisted in the Navy for four years instead. He dropped out of UDT/ Seal Training in July 1969 and departed for Viet Nam in August 1969.
